Welcome to the Recap - a short weekly update blog from Architecture and Design Scotland. This is based on our internal blog that is shared with staff and board members on Fridays.

Coming soon... Place Forum 4

We met to discuss our plans for our fourth Place Forum which will take place in late June. Our current plan is to look at design and a preventative approach; examples of projects and places that support wellbeing and health and much more. We had a great discussion about inspiring projects so keep an eye out for our announcement of the event.

If you want to find out more about Place Forum here is a link to the outputs from the first three events.

Inspiring students

The submissions for the Architecture and Design Scotland and Royal Incorporation of Architects Student Awards for 2024 will open on 15 May at midday. To inspire students to submit their work we have organised a Zoom event with previous winners. Register for your place here to hear from previous winners on how they approached the awards, and what they've done since winning the awards.

Exploring the value of design

In our second week in our new home, we ran a workshop with all colleagues to look at how the value of design aligns with the Scottish Government's core missions: equality, opportunity, and community. The session thrived on collaboration as our colleagues brainstormed a wealth of inspiring ideas and projects that could be showcased in upcoming examples that we will share across our channels.

Coming up

This week we're looking forward to our Board meeting, as well as meeting to discuss our Place Forum 5 which we are planning for the autumn.
